A little about me...

 

Hello, I'm Penelope Eyre a contemporary watercolour animal portrait artist based in Guernsey. I've been captivated by the natural world for as long as I can remember.

My work is all about celebrating the beauty, personality and spirit of wildlife through bold colour, expressive line and a distinctly modern style. I work primarily in watercolour and what drives every piece I create is a fascination with the unique character of individual animals. The way a creature holds itself, the energy it carries and the story it tells without words.

Colour is at the heart of everything I do. I use it intentionally and joyfully drawing on the principles of colour therapy to evoke feelings of happiness, warmth and emotional connection. I want people to look at my paintings and feel something — a lift, a smile, a moment of pure delight.

Beyond original paintings I love bringing my art into everyday life through high-quality art prints, clothing, mugs and handmade pottery each featuring my signature animal characters, playful and sometimes a little cheeky.

I first exhibited my work in 2018 and since then I've continued to grow my collection and push my practice in new directions. I'm currently working on an exciting new series inspired by aquatic animals, vibrant and expressive pieces that I can't wait to share.

I'm also available for bespoke animal art commissions. My commissions aren't traditional pet portraits. I work conceptually offering my own contemporary interpretation of an animal breed or species.
